Asateer
Asateer comes in a beautifully solid, weighty glass bottle which looks and feels expensive. It’s shaped like a heavy tumbler glass that’s full of smoky brown bourbon. Every spray leaves an oily sheen upon the skin, denoting its high oil content.
Al Wataniah says, “Feel yourself being transported to new heights under the spell of this deep scent” and one spray really does take you the luxury shopping malls of Dubai. This heavy, dark, Arabian style scent is exactly what houses like Tom Ford and most other high-end western perfumers now look to create (but with huge price tags). It does remind me of Boadicea The Victorious ‘Blue Sapphire’ (which costs an eye-watering £545) as it has that same cold but dry-smoky, jasmine, patchouli and amber feel. Asateer is only £19.99 for a 100ml EDP with great longevity. One spray on clothing lasts for days.
Asateer really is hauntingly beautiful. Velvety, earthy, a frosty incense that smoulders with uplifting jasmine and patchouli on a bed of moss. It leans more masculine than feminine and for the price, I’m very impressed. If you like a cold, smoky oud (like Aramis ‘Calligraphy’) then you should give Asateer a try.
