The Best Rose Fragrances

It's disheartening that my s***t doesn't smell of roses, as rose is my favourite scent. So let's dispel the 'old lady' stigma and pay homage to my most favourite rose fragrances. We'll start from simplistic to obscure.

Perfumer's Workshop 'Tea Rose'

Let's start with a classic rose soliflore. This is an affordable, true rose representation. Rose realism at its best. All other rose fragrances start from here, then go off on a tangent. This starts and ends with rose-realness.

Jo Malone 'Red Roses'

Before Jo sold her name and fragrance rights to Estee Lauder, she created this beautiful pink juice of petals. It's a blend of 7 types of roses, fresh lemon and mint to perk it up and some beeswax in the base to add a golden depth. A few sprays on your winter scarf is enough to bring back the innocent freshness of springtime in bloom.

House of Misk 'Rose Isparta'

A natural, single-note fragrance oil made from the distillation of Turkish Damask roses. It's pure, rich and stunning. You can't go wrong with any of House of Misk's rose oils. Read my full review here.

Arabian Oud 'Musk Motasslik'

White musk with Istanbul and Indian wild roses - it's clean, spirited and sensual. This was my signature scent for a while. After hugging me, my friends said I smelt like a "rose soap" - so that's good enough for me. It's currently not on the Arabian Oud website but it's still on eBay is you want to snap-up a treat. Louis Vuitton 'Les Sables Roses'

It is very expensive, but it smells expensive and the longevity lasts for days. Rose, oud, ambergris, saffron and black pepper - it's not dark nor heavy but somehow dry. The ambergris gives it a desert-like dryness, like a sultry rose that's been dehumidified into rich perfumed sand. It's an absolute wonder of perfumery by expert nose Cavallier.

Armani Prive 'Rose d'Arabie'

An opulent, decadent dark-berry juice, infused with a scarlet red rose and oud. It's black magic and dark sensuality but remains so very wearable. It's my longest owned fragrance in my collection that I haven't kicked-out or sold. Don't waste your time with Jo Malone's inferior dupe 'Velvet Roses and Oud' just save your money and go straight to this. Read my full review here.

Thameen 'Noorolain Taif'

A front-runner to be my new signature scent and one of the greatest fragrances in my rosie world. Read my full review here.
