Fate (Woman)
“With a floral heart deepened by a dark and destructive accord, Fate for Woman opens with spicy accords to set a mysterious mood of the unexpected. The base features a rich and forceful blend of frankincense, oakmoss and leather.”
I’m laying in bed with ‘Imitation’ (Woman) on my right wrist and ‘Fate’ (Woman) on my left. Both opened very differently, but shared a busy and chaotic opening like an orchestra independently warming up and maybe clumsily dropping some symbols. ‘Fate’ began surging with resinous sweetness, like when honey crystallises and becomes thick with ylang-ylang petals stick in its golden trap. After the first half hour, both pump-out smoky incense like a giant metal burner swinging above your head in a cathedral, billowing with thick clouds of incense, trying to reach the heavens with the prayer of the faithful. For a moment it was a bit too much and I wanted to tap-out as it smelt like going through an old damp, musty train tunnel. But they both calm as they mellow and settle-in to the skin.
I’ve woken up hours later to sniff both wrists again. The dry-down of ‘Imitation’ and ‘Fate’ is almost like they are sisters! ‘Imitation’ is just a touch more powdery and aldehydey (still with the smoky incense) and ‘Fate’ is slightly sweeter but more balsamic. Have you noticed the striking family resemblance to ‘Imitation’ (Woman) and ‘Fate’ (Woman)?
It’s not love, not like, but not dislike either... just intrigue.
