Gucci - Fading Autumn
They say scent evokes memories. For me, Gucci’s ‘Fading Autumn’ smells exactly like a Mediterranean forest after rainfall. To be precise, it took me back to Galicia in the North West of Spain, when I was hiking in the countryside in early morning, amidst the inevitable Galician rainfall. It’s the smell the forest floor gives off when damp, that earthy but woody, petrichor mix of fallen pine needles and undiscovered pathways. It’s the abundance of pine trees along with tall eucalyptus.
'Fading Autumn' bottles this memory for me, using cedar, cypriol oil, nagarmotha, patchouli and sandalwood to augment this green, woodland aroma. It's presented in a charming bottle design "decorated with whimsical rows of pink buds from Gucci's signature rose motif." I'd love the decor of my entire house to match this pretty bottle.
The 100ml ‘scented water’ is designed to be layered with others in Gucci’s ‘Alchemist’s Garden’ haute collection. It’s blended to create a “woody fragrance that will enhance the texture of other ingredients through its wrapping intensity.”
‘Fading Autumn’ takes me back to the scent of hiking the Camino De Santiago and finding myself.
