Oud Al Fares

You know you’re in for a treat when the oil itself is a rich nicotine-brown colour with a syrupy viscosity. It starts with a metallic tangy oud, which is the awakening of both Cambodian and Indonesian oud. These are the two most Western friendly ouds, chosen to not frighten away the masses, with what could be a horrific faecal blast. Experience told me to wait before judging this attar, as the concentrated notes need time to unravel against your skin. So what better activity is there whilst waiting, than a high intensity fitness class? As my heart-rate raised, so too did my temperature and my attar began to bloom.

Through the intensity of the potent oud, a fruity citrus started piercing through the rich smoke. The juicy zest of bergamot and tangerine was lifting the (often harsh) edges of oud. The vanilla was next to add a deep warmth to sweeten and further tame the rambunctious oud. This develops into something multi-faceted and determined but never overwhelming. It’s complex but also very wearable for both men and bold women.

‘Oud Al Fares’ is a deeply warm, smoky-sweet oud, with an uplifting and elated citrus.

My experience so far with Maison Anthony Marmin is that of absolute quality, the longest lasting, beautifully crafted attars - something that the likes of Tom Ford can only aspire to, only to fail to try to achieve.

$37.49 for a 3ml, long lasting attar, that triumphantly knocks the socks off of its competitors.

TOP - Bergamot, Tangerine

MIDDLE - Wild Vanilla, Moyale wild wood bark

BASE - Oud Cambodi, Indonesian Oud
