Tanger
‘Tanger’ has a similar intro to ‘Levant’ and they could in fact be brothers (minus the lily-of-the-valley of ‘Levant’). They both share the same notes of mandarin, bergamot, rose petals and amber, but where ‘Levant’ leads with orange blossom, ‘Tanger’ does the same with neroli (neroli being the steam distilled variation of orange blossom, making it greener and spicier). I prefer ‘Tanger’ as it has an additional balsamic accord (with a very, very slight amount of acceptable vanilla) in the base, making it more resinous, better rounded and delicious.
‘Tanger’ is by far, my favourite from the ‘La Route de Soie’ collection. I love the combination of neroli, cashmere wood, moss and amber with the balsamic accord. It’s not so much an airy and uplifting fragrance since the base is a sweet, spicy aromatic and a little frankincensey (thanks to the amber with the woody balsamic accord and the earthy moss). ‘Tanger’ is delicately fresh, clean, woody and orientally spicy like a luxurious soap. It’s not ground-breaking, but I keep smelling my wrist as it gives me a comforting pleasure.
