#cafedelmar

#cafedelmar is my second favourite from Ramon Monegal’s Ibiza Collection.

Café del Mar is a legendary seaside bar in Ibiza which started 1980. It’s unique and lucrative concept, combined enjoying a drink, whilst watching the sunset, with listening to DJ sessions of ambient chill-out beats. Café del Mar has since become its own musical genre, selling millions of records worldwide.

In the same way that Café del Mar uses a soundtrack to amalgamate everything into a special moment, Ramon Monegal likewise uses fragrance to encompass and complete the unique experience. Monegal describes his #cafedelmar fragrance as:

“Every hypnotic sunset seen from Cafe del Mar gives birth to a unique and relaxing moment. Velvety vanilla amber, on a seabed of Mediterranean seaweed combined in a foamy sea on a beach of golden sand.”

Monegal has captured the relaxed, chill-out vibe using lavender to calm, along with orris and ambergris. I love the seaweed note and beach accord. Luckily for me, the vanilla, apple and coffee notes aren’t too prominent. The deep blue colour of the bottle is perfectly chosen to represent the evening sea at sunset.

This would smell perfect on someone like George Clooney, in those emotive coffee ads where he’s in a chic vintage car, somewhere in the Mediterranean, looking dashing in a suit and open-necked shirt, filmed in black and white.

#cafedelmar and #laislablanca make a perfect 'his and hers' pair, as they suit each other. They are the effortlessly cool, bohemian, successful couple you see having brunch in the old town marina.
