Next To Me

images.jpg

Ramon Monegal was “fascinated by Dubai!” when he created ‘Next to Me’ which is categorised as a woody, fruity, Oriental.

My first sniff gives a bitter leather that’s dusty and dry – it’s the type of dehydrated bitterness that you get from the broken husk of a walnut shell. A sweetness comes next, from the Indonesian nutmeg. There’s a synthetic oud, but no real smoky oud to be found here. The saffron is spicy, ultra-earthy, dusty and tobacco-like, which combines with the sweet, spicy, woody clove-like nutmeg and the earthy, slightly sweet Russian leather. I get no fruits (although the frankincense brings a bitter lemon resin) nor am I aware of any florals. The dry-down reminds me of just-printed paper - a bitter citric, sour-dry, powdered printer-ink accord. Interestingly, that newly printed magazine aroma is called "bibliosmia" or the effect the magazine has on the nostrils as you breathe in the scent of the pages.

‘Next to Me’ is a bitter, dry-earthy, dusty-sweet, woody leather.

NOTES - Indian Oud, Egyptian Jasmin, Spanish Saffron, Indonesian Nutmeg, Somalian Frankincense, Australian Sandalwood, Turkish Rose, Russian Leather, Spanish Labdanum-Cistus, Brazilian Tonka
